39. Indira's Meditation with Rumi Quotes:

The great Persian poet Jalaluddin Rumi was born in present-day Afghanistan in 1207. Rumi practiced Sufism which is Islamic mysticism and acquired a lot of knowledge about spiritual matters and the secrets of the spirit world. As a scholar he taught religion then at the age of 37 he met Shams Tabrizi, a wandering dervish, who became Rumi's spiritual mentor and friend for 3 years and who changed Rumi's life. Then Shams mysteriously disappeared perhaps murdered by one of Rumi's students due to jealousy. The devastation of the loss of his friend inspired his poetry.

At each chakra we will be listening to the words of the great poet Rumi, I will repeat each phrase. See if a word or the whole phrase catches your imagination, meditate on that word or contemplate the phrase for about 2 minutes.

Let us begin by drawing our attention inwards and with a deep breath in welcome in the Life Energy which sustains us moment by moment and then exhale any tension that might be in your body.

Feel your body connecting to the Earth through your ROOT CHAKRA, it is located at the base of the spine and at the feet, the colour is red, it symbolizes survival. Ascending the focus of your energy now to your SACRAL CHAKRA located in your lower abdomen area, the colour is orange, it symbolizes sexuality and desire. Listen to Rumi's words, "You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideas and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You were not meant for crawling, so don't. You have wings learn to use them and fly."

Ascending the focus of your energy now to your SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA, it is located in the navel area, the colour is yellow, it symbolizes ego, power and will. Listen to Rumi's words, "I'm not this hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within. The universe is not outside of you look inside of yourself; everything you want, you already are."

Ascending the focus of your energy to your HEART CHAKRA, located in your chest area, the colour is green, it symbolizes love and relationships. Listen to Rumi's words, "The very centre of your heart is where life begins - the most beautiful place on Earth."

Ascending the focus of your energy to your THROAT CHAKRA, the colour is blue, it symbolizes communication. Listen to Rumi's words, "Raise your words, not voice. It is rain that grows flowers not Thunder. The pains you feel are messengers listen to them."

Ascending the focus of your energy to your THIRD EYE CHAKRA, located between your eyebrows, the colour is violet, it symbolizes your intuition and supernatural abilities. Listen to Rumi's words, "Goodbyes are only for those who love with their eyes because for those who love with heart and soul there is no such thing as separation."

Ascending the focus of your energy to your CROWN CHAKRA, here we envision a white light coming in and out of the top of our head. It symbolizes our higher consciousness joining with the universal consciousness or surrender. Listen to Rumi's words, "I've been looking for a long, long time, for this thing called love, I've ridden comets across the sky, and I've looked below and above. Then one day I looked inside myself and this is what I found, a golden sun residing there beaming forth God's light and sound."
