The five hindrances to meditation:

1. Desire and wanting

The antidote: reflecting on impermanence and on death.

2. Aversion - anger, dislike, judgment and fear

The antidote: filling up with loving kindness and forgiveness.

3. Sleepiness, dullness and lethargy

The antidote: arouse energy through visualization, inspiration and posture.

4. Agitation and restlessness of mind

The antidote: bringing calm and relaxation through techniques of concentration.

5. Doubt - not having the faith that you can meditate

The antidote: finding some way to inspire faith using techniques such as life reflection, reading or speaking with a wise person.
